How To Write Your Testimony
Your testimony is a description of your trial; what you have personally overcome. Remember, overcoming in the biblical sense does not mean the outcome is exactly as you expected. Overcoming is a process. Some Overcomers have their lives changed forever or even die. What makes these people Overcomers is how they accept the comfort of our Lord Jesus Christ and remained faithful to Him during their trial. They suffer well and who remain extraordinarily loyal to their calling despite severe testing.
Just asyou would with any story you need to include a beginning, a middle and an end. In your case the “end” may be a work in progress. You may still be learning from your experience. In our earthly lives we never “arrive”; we never get “there”. We are constantly learning and evolving and growing towards spiritual maturity. God’s journey for us is a process not an event.
Your goal in relaying your story is to let others know, first what happened (briefly describe your life before the trial) and explain in general terms what trial occurred in your life. Include details that are important to the overall message. Next, describe what happened during the trial. Include answers to the following questions:
How did you cope with the news of your trial? What did you find inspirational during your trial? What role did God play in you overcoming your trial? What did you find comforting during this time?
